We try to avoid cancelling games as much as possible. Unfortunately the weather is beyond our control and sometimes we have no choice. We will cancel a game in the following situations:

  • When field conditions are extremely poor the municipality will cancel our permits. This can happen even when the current weather is good as water may have pooled on the diamond from rain earlier in the day or overnight.
  • When the current or forecasted weather or field conditions would make playing the game unsafe.
  • When there is visible lightning in the area Umpires/Coaches will cancel a game even if it is already in progress.
  • When the Umpires/Coaches believe that the current weather or field conditions would make playing the game unsafe.
When we decide to, or are forced to, cancel games we let you know is several ways, this is usually done by 4:00 PM (initial report) but sometimes the final decision is not made until later.

Here is how you can tell if a game is cancelled due to weather or field conditions.
  1. We update the Website. The Main Page of our site has a scrolling weather section and the Weather page has more detail. There are several ways to subscribe to this information in real time. (To suggest others contact our Webmaster)
  2. We update the League voice mail message. If you phone the League Line at (905) 718-5920 the voicemail message will be updated if we have cancelled games or are aware of weather issues we should be watching.
  3. We contact the coaches of the affected teams by E-mail and tell them to advise the parents of their team by E-mail and/or phone.
Unless you hear that a game is cancelled by one of these methods you should assume that it will proceed and arrive at the field on time and ready to play.

We rely on members of the community, this means you, to tell us about current field conditions. If you live near a diamond we use we would love it if you E-mail us when you saw problems that would prevent us from playing on that field.
