Level 3

Skill Development Expectations

Coaches as a league we want to develop the skills and the game of softball.

This season we want to help coaches stay on track developing our learning players so that the kids can make the step to mite ball as seamless as possible.

As children progress, we expect to see their grasp of the game grow, while still having fun.

Level 3

Kids are preparing for full ball at the mite level next year, this year should prepare them for that progression.

Catching

The footwork mechanics of catching balls in various positions. should be developed. Better judgment of where the ball is while it is coming at them .

Throwing

Where throws are going to be made. Especially in front of runners etc. Like where force plays are.

Base Running

Tagging up on fly balls, should be working on sliding, knows they have to run on force plays.

Hitting

Should be able to hit faster pitching.

Pitching

The mechanics of pitching should be introduced. Maybe not full windmill but at least restricted (natural). Some kids will show an interest, others will not.

Position Playing

Try kids at various positions to see what they like, remember not everyone can be a catcher or short stop.Put them in positions where they will have success.
